Time retrograde SF puzzle THE ENTROPY CENTRE released in November. Talking AI light gun and the destruction of the earth
Publisher Play stack announced on September 30 that it will announce the first-person viewpoint puzzle ADV The Entropy Center on November 3. Compatible platforms are PC (Steam) and PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X | S. The demo version is currently being distributed on the Steam store page. According to the notation on the page, it will also support Japanese display.
THE ENTROPY Center is a first-person puzzle adventure game that uses a light gun that can rewind time. The stage is the giant space station on the Earth orbital. In this work, the earth is wrapped in flames and humanity is destroyed. The protagonist Alma Adams apparently survived in humanity. ALMA explores the unmanned space station using ASTRA, which is a handheld entropy device equipped with AI companion. She explores her hope to save humanity. Alma will eventually face the truth that makes her eyes covered with the collapse of the station and the destruction of the earth.
The protagonist can rewind the time of the object by using ASTRA to irritate the object with a ray. The player uses the time operation to solve various puzzles and solve the mystery of the facility. In the trailer and demo version, you can check various devices using ASTRA. The facilities that Alma get lost is devastated, and it is aging here and there. Depending on the location, there seems to be a problem that the building collapses and blocks the road.
In such a case, you can open the road using ASTRA. If the rays are irradiated to the collapsed part, it will quickly go backwards and regain the shape. As a result, the passage does not require you to be blocked. ASTRA's time retrograde can be used for puzzles. In the demonstration version, the pressure-sensing switch was confirmed to combine the weight of the cube and the time retrograde. In the trailer, there are images in which the objects irradiated with ASTRA change the shape of a flat parallel or cube while moving. The combination of time retrograde and environmental gimmick seems to be the key.
Don't forget that ASTRA has an AI companion. The trailer also has a scene between ASTRA and the protagonist Alma. In the scene of jumping over a dangerous scaffold by jumping, there is a side that encourages ALMA, saying, I can believe it! She seems to be a partner that supports the lonely Alma search, although she is inevitable to have a complete trust in ASTRA's AI.
It seems that there are many cute robots with cute face screens in the station. In the first half of the trailer, they look friendly. On the other hand, in the latter half, multiple robots seem to be approaching electricity on the antenna-like part. Contrary to the cute appearance, there is also a powerful aspect that breaks through the wall, and it is likely to stand as a threat of the protagonist.
Stubby Games, which develops The Entropy Center, is an indie studio based in London, UK. According to Daniel Abington in the studio, this work originally posted a short-in-game video in the early stage of development on the overseas bulletin board Reddit. As a result of receiving a lot of positive response, it seems that the development as a full game has been steered.
The fact that we talk with AI is similar to the popular work of the first-person viewpoint puzzle, Portal 2. On the other hand, the axis of the puzzle called time rewind is likely to be a feature of this work. Also, I'm worried about what ASTRA, an AI of this work, will be for the hero. Let's look forward to the truth.
The Entropy Center will be released in 2022 for PC (Steam) and PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X | S. On the Steam store page, the demonstration version is also available.
